I have a Glarry P. It's a good $67 bass. It's not a POS. It feels solid and sounds like a bass. It has quirks, but it's functional. I let my kids play it and don't worry about it getting knocked into the wall.
Understand that you're buying something at the very lowest end of the market, and that has consequences for quality control etc. If, as you say, you just want something to play, and you have your expectations dialed in, I think it's a solid choice. You'd probably be equally OK with Rogue or Mitchell or <Polar/Exquisite Fire/other Ebay bass>. My very first one when I just wanted one to play was a Rogue that I paid like $75 for.
In general, on the subject of cheap basses in the Fender-like realm, I recommend Squier. If you can pay a little more than the Glarry, I think you'll find the entry level Squiers to be superior, and the Classic Vibes to be far superior. If you buy used you can really get the price down.
Squier PJ: $179
