Glitter effect On paint!?

So I'm planning on refinishing my bass body but would like to have a black finish with some sparkle in it...

I have a hold sparkle p-bass. It's gold paint with sparkles then clear coat
It looks great.

I think your plan will work well. I've refinished lots of instruments but never black sparkle specifically.

Krylon makes a glitter topcoat in several colors that go on well over a similar-colored paint. Prime, shoot in silver (for example) then coat with silver glitter topcoat, then add clearcoat.
