Glock duo, two inputs?

sorry if this is a noobish question but:
i just bought a glockenklang duo today. 2x10 8ohm 400W

and there are 2 inputs.
the sticker next to those says:
pins 1+,2+ hot
pins 1-,2-cold

anyone know what this means?

second question:
i blew the 10" speaker of my acoustic image coda combo. i believe i shouldnt have used the ebs octabass on it. and anyway it was never meant for use with electricbass.
do you think i run the same risk with the glock?
small speaker+ low frequency=danger?
or does it have more to do with the clipping discussions about watts and ohms and volume and whatnot? can an octaver cause an amp to clip?

thanks

Sorry I can't reply about the difference between inputs in the Glockenklang.

Though please allow me my opinion about this question :

can an octaver cause an amp to clip?

A good octaver (and the Octabass is one of the best on the market, IMO) won't clip your amp by itself.
BUT you have to consider that adding subfrequencies does increase the level of the signal. That's why the Octabass allows you to adjust both dry and effected signal levels independently from each other. Said another way : the more you crank the effect up, the more you should crank the dry signal down, until you find the perfect balance.

I guess what blew your speaker was the input level, not the Octabass by itself.

Cheers

The speakon connectors on the Glock cab are wired in parallel. This means that you can use one of these connectors to connect another (8 ohm) speaker, changing the total impedance to 4 ohms. You can either connect pin 1+ and 1-, or 2+ and 2- of a speakon plug to a speaker cable for normal operation. Don't connect two amps to the cab, though. Your speaker will not appreciate this...

Cheers,

Vincent

+1 Great cab, BTW! :hyper:

sorry i dont get it. ( i do understand that i can plug another speaker on the first one but: ) theres no difference between the two plugs? or do you mean pin1 has to go to pin1 of the other speaker? and - on one cab has to go to + on the other one?
:hmm:

If you look inside a speakon plug (the one that is attached to your cable), you will find 4 connection points, numbered 1-, 1+, 2-, and 2+. To connect the cab to your amp, either 1- and 1+ or 2- and 2+ have to be connected. The second cab should then be connected to either 2- and 2+ or 1- and 1+. At least, this is how I understood it (I never connected a second cab to my amp).

Hope this is more clear...

Cheers,

Vincent
