Glow bass!

So i recently found this site for glow in the dark tables ( http://www.instructables.com/id/Glow-table/?ALLSTEPS ), and was thinking about how absolutely badass it would be to make a bass out of it

what do you think? any downsides to using wood full of holes?

I saw something similar with shelving with cracks in it and un-even ends. I was thinking about doing something similar except non-glow in the dark resin. I would just use it as a top wood, personally and put it over something solid.

Please make a thread if you're going to do this, I'd love to see how it turns out.

I was planning on using blue veneers for my kit project, and received the veneers in the mail on Friday. I'm very happy with them, but awfully tempted by this idea.

That would be interesting with a closer-grained wood, like mahogany.

not really full of holes if they are filled. Might affect tone, but worth trying. there is a place for every tone out there.

Since the glow only lasts for about 20 minutes, how about using clear or colour tinted casting resin and putting battery powered L.E.D.s in it with a switch. Could have different coloured tints in different places or all the same colour. Or Clear resin with different coloured L.E.D.s .

Taking it a step further add one of those build it yourself kits that control L.E.D.s, on and off timings. < Maybe going overboard here, too gaudy? Or is it just fun? Maybe ask Bootsy Collins if it's too much. LOL

Lights and stuff look so cool on the fretboard! All of Chris Wolstenholme's (muse) new custom basses have lights on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc. frets.

My ltd fb bass has glow in the dark fret markers... But it has to be really dark to see them.

I've tried using this rattle-can spray that has tiny particles that reflect light, much like they use on street lines to reflect headlights. It's difficult to get even coverage so it doesn't look splotchy and it tends to make what's under it (colour) milky looking. White would work best if you could get it even. Also, it does build up, so there's a thickish clear-coat to consider. The cool-factor is that it would change as the player moves on stage under spotlights etc.

Tobo, Check out custom car paint websites, if you want to paint your whole body so it all glows.
Some glow up to 8 hours (I imagine they'd be bloody faint by then).

I don't know about using cyprus as that carpenter did. What about using a poplar burl top layer, a cut that has a lot of holes in it. Then, fill in the holes with this resin.
