Glowing Ampeg 810

if it is the 810HPC this thing is rated to take 1500 Watts, so I don't reckon the protection bulb would have glowed.

if it is an 810 each pair of speakers is sealed so it would require 4 bulbs which would be redundant as there is no Horn

the 610HLF has a horn and is slightly shorter than an 810 and does have the protection Bulb (I know I've seen mine light up too)

when this happened to my 610HLF is was with a 300 watt amp (the 610 is rated fro 600) but the reason for it was due to the person using a faulty instrument cable into their amp which was producing a lot of HF noise.

BTW does anyone know how to test the horn?

I had a cab in which the tinsel leads on a driver would arc and the light could be seen through the drivers surrounds.

But in the Ampeg that would have to happen in all 4 sub cabs to light all the surrounds.

ok guys, we did take the grill off & look at it when it lit up. it was just like one of these but around every speaker.

im telling you it was wild.

he does not have me on a bit. it is not his amp. it is the bands amp. it was purchased for the room by the band a few years before i joined. there is no way he could have done that since he is in the room with us about once a month & there are 5 of us sitting around so i think we would notice him doing something like that. plus i use it all the time when i don't feel like setting back up to jam & then tear right back down for a gig.

If I stand too close to my SVT-410HLF, there is a very high-pitched feedback and the metal rings of the individual speaker frames do light up. I guess I'm gonna be the only one who's not a jackass. Ever see the little spark when you get shocked from static electricity? It looks like that, but constant and all around the speakers. Scares the $h!t outta me.
