GMR BASS

I've just landed a GMR Soundboard 5 string. Apparently this one was made in London before Daniel moved back to Poland. Flame top on mahogany body, maple and walnut 5 piece neck (with a crazy flame in the central laminate) , wenge board and Bartolini jazz pickups ( all passive). I'm actually blown away....put a set of Elixirs on it and it plays and sounds great. Reasonably light weight, good balance despite the big headstock, and a very playable neck. Very impressed!! I've got a new 2 band Glockenklang eq in the drawer, and there seems like plenty of space for the extra pot and battery, so likely to install that. I reckon I've landed a lovely custom bass for a good price, a perfect back up/alternative for my Shuker J5 Custom.

I've spent a few hours playing it now, and it's settled down after the set up and new strings. I'm actually blown away! It plays great, the Elixirs seem to suit the bass very well (it had Rotosounds previously) and the sound from the Bartolinis is wonderful. I'm going to leave it as it is for a while, got a few gigs in the diary, and then decide whether to fit the Glockenklang preamp. Happy days!
