I quite like them. A bass is a bass, if it works for you, power to you. And Dean happens to work for me.

I've noticed people seem to feel the need to apologize if they have a bass that cost under a $1000 that isn't a Fender/Squier or an SX.

Way back in the day (okay, so maybe it was more like 5 years ago) I really wanted the fretless, semi-hollow Dean Rhapsody bass. By the time I could actually afford a bass of my own (was using the Church's bass at the time) they disappeared.

Bongolation, congrats on your new bass. I know you are not one to settle for lesser quality just because a bass is at a certain price point, so I believe these Dean Edges are for real. I've yet to actually get my hands on one. Anyway, have fun, and let us know if you upgrade the preamp.

The only thing I have against a Dean, is when people confuse my Tobias Standard for one. Not to be snobby at all by saying this, but nobody confuses a Dean for a Tobias if they play them first. The ones I've played since the turn of the century have always been superb for the money, electronics aside.

That said, I've owned a few 80's Dean six-strings, including two Hollywood Z's, one hardtail and one Floyd Rose. These were the cheaper bolt-ons, but even then the quality was great!

I doubt I'll play this much, and I'm certainly not going to put any money into it, but I'm considering changing the OpAmp in the preamp to something a bit better, which may improve the noise floor and sound quality.

I think I neglected to mention that remaining stocks of these are selling online for $500-$675 or so, according to Google.

So it's not like it's actually that cheap of a bass, I just got it at around 85% off MSRP, depending on whose version of MSRP you're going by.

Yeah, the $132.99 price is reflects nothing except the bizarre and mysterious bargains you can get on Amazon sometimes.

My neighbor has that same Q4... I think he bought it from a dealer in Honolulu for about $200. He loaned it to me while I was looking for something lighter, and it had a warped and untensioned neck, so the action was REALLY high. I fixed that pronto, which made him VERY happy when I returned it.

He's not much of a player... just noodles around... but another guy nearby was a working player, and all his instruments have the same problem. What's with people who don't know there's something wrong with their instrument?...

Had one of these(same electrifying pink). Seriously, for $200.00, a very good-playing bass with decent P-tone. I worked for a Dean dealership, and had the chance to play many. The Edge Pros are very good basses; the bolt neck ones are really good too. Don't know if it's still in production, but the Vendetta was a killer bass as well. The Cadillac bass impressed me the most, and if I was to buy a Dean, the Cadillac wins.

until the shop I work part time at got this one-off USA Hillsboro bass in. It's definitely not your run of the mill bass...that thing is sick!
