Going from Medium to Heavy

Right now im playing a Carvin B4 with medium prosteels and high action. I want to throw on some heavy gauge prosteels and lower the action a bit. I understand i will notice a difference, but after adjusting the truss rod accordingly and lowering the action, how much more string tension will i notice?

The reason im asking is because i dont want to mess up my playing by adding a bunch of string tension and resistance, just a concern of mine. sorry if this is a stupid question, i have never really had to change string gauges before.

Going to a larger gauge always gave me a bit more tension,you can expect some.
I have one older bass with a thin neck that can only handle lighter gauge without bowing too much, the truss rod can't hold it, you may have to just try them out.

if you're dropping the tuning a bit after you change the strings you may not notice a big difference in tension. i had a squire that had medium rounds on it tuned EADG then i bought some heavier .50 gauge strings, adjusted the truss rod, and went to drop C. the tension hardly changed. but the string felt thicker (obviously.) which on my part made it easier for me to play fast for some reason.
