Going in Direct with a BBE BMax

does anyone know if a BBE Bmax would work going direct live, instead of using it with a poweramp and cabs. my band is going to start playing shows and the guitarists are both using axefxs direct and i dont have an amp big enough to play shows yet. it would be simpler and cheaper for me if i can use the Bmax direct?

Yes a Bmax or BMax-T can be used like that. It's designed to be used as a recording preamp or used in a live amp rig. just run out of the D.I. on the back. I have run mine like that countless times but I was always using a 2X10 cabinet as my monitor. My stage volume was always low and sometimes the other guys would want more volume in the monitors so I was doing essentially the same thing. I'm assuming that you will use floor monitors. Another thing to consider that the master volume control on the BBE units effects the D.I. output level.

I have a BMax-T and I owned the solid state BMax before. I like it a lot but I wouldn't call it versatile. The BBE units have an old school passive Fender type EQ. The You may want to consider one of the Sansamp Preamps. The RBI rack mount unit or a Bass Driver DI or the Para Driver DI or the. SVT Instead. There are a lot of choices. The Sansamp EQ's are easier to use and I think they are more flexible. They are far less expensive then the BMax-T but about on par price wise with the SS Bmax.
