going to see Gov't Mule!

the unbelivable has happened and Gov't Mule is going to perfrom in Israel!

the funny thing is I found out about it by chance as there is almost no mention of them coming.
they are almost unknown in Israel and even those who know them seem to consider them a spin off of the Allman Brothers.

I really hope they don't cancel and enough people buy tickets.

That's damn cool dude. I still need to see these guys live, but it looks like to me that getting bands (especially american jam bands) to play in your country is pretty hard. Hope the show is killer!

Wow ! You will love them live. Not only is there original material incredible but they do some of the best covers known to man ! ! Our band caught them last summer outdoors at Mishawaka ( northern Colorado ) & we immediately encorporated a few of their cover versions into our set. Even cooler, we played a show at "The Mish" the next day and got to use the same PA. Coincidentally we set up in the same fasion ( instrumentwise ) as they did. Our guitarist got a big kick out of standing where Warren had been only hours before. Great memories from that one ! !

Good point. When I saw them they did a cover of a Prince tune that was pretty wild. It took the crowd a while to recognize it (I think it was When Does Cry, not 100% sure since it was a few years ago) because they took it in a different direction but I remember it being really well done..

Yeah... thier new bass player rocks. Matt Abt is a great drummer..... Warren, not so much a fan of Warren. They do awesome random covers that make them a lot of fun.

actually the only thing overshadowing my excitement was the fact I haven't heard their new bassist except for a couple of YouTube clips and I assume it's going to be hard stepping into the giant shoes that both Woody and Andy left in their own unique ways.

good thing to hear Jorgen lives up to the expectations from a fellow TBer.

Their Mountain Jam shows from this past weekend were broadcast live over iclips. I'm a big fan of the band through all it's incarnations and at first Jorgen was my least favourite of the bass players they've had with them including the temps. His sound (and rig) seem to have changed to something thst kind of resembles Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. Very mid range, somewhat dirty....I'm digging it! Enjoy the shows.

I saw one of the New Years shows at the Beacon. I thought Jorgen was great. I also like his playong on their newest CD.

I was lucky enough to be turned on to The Mule back in '99 and caught them live 12-15 times w/ the last show being this past winter where Peter Frampton sat in. To this day, the three piece Mule w/ Woody is my favorite, although I've enjoyed all the incarnations since his passing. In short, my bet is you'll love it. Enjoy!

well, the show was on Friday and let me tell you...wow, I loved it!!
first of all - they put an incredible show. not that I expected anything else from them but they got some great stage presence and they don't waste one minute talking, straight on pedal to the metal setlist.
after a 30-40mins. break they came in with some of their slower numbers like Banks of the Deep End (they did play Soulshine at the first half of the show) and kicked it up a notch from there on(seems the sound became better after the break).

btw, Jorgen is an awesome bassist - he sits great with the band.
only gripe is that it seemed whenever Warren and Jorgen played the Firebird/Thunderbird duo respectively the whole mix became mushy. with the LP and Precision it seemed like everyone had their sonic place in the mix and I could hear what they were doing better (seemed like the TBird fought with Danny's keys mainly).
anyway they finished with Superstition then returned for two encores - Hallelujah with Warren and Danny only (I suspect this was a special request from the local production) then Matt and Jorgen joined in and the band played Al Green's "I'm a Ram". great stuff, hope they hit our shores again sometime in the future or else I'll have to fly to see them abroad.

yep they did that on Friday too.
not exactly a full on cover but they rather incorporated it into one of their own songs. I think it was during "Beautifully Broken" but I can't remember.

Warren also played the melody from Beck's "Loser" with the slide on one of their other in-song jammings. was pretty cool.
