Gold harware?

Hey, i got a question about gold hardware. Well, i hear that it wears out and chips easy over time...i dont want that to happen, so ive been avoiding gold. Recently i have been looking into getting a schecter custom-4, and the natural finish one has "satin gold" hardware. Does satin gold wear and chip like the reguler gold? it looks defferent and i think feels defferent, and my local guitar center only has the natural with gold. I could order the red with black, but would prefer to buy it at my local shop. thanks

I have a Schecter C-4. Its satin gold hardware has held up much better than the bright gold on my 1st. Gen Spector Legend.

I've never had any issues with gold hardware on any of my basses that have it (maybe a half-dozen of my current basses).

ok. so like how long does it take for satin gold to start looking bad?

If my memory is correct, gold doesn't tarnish.

But I think that's pure gold...

Also, gold is soft. Dunno about chipping. :/

Satin gold is painted on, regular gold hardware is annodized.

The paint on my Schecter still looks nearly new after owning the thing for 5 years.
