Good bass teacher in the LA Area

Im looking for a good bass teacher in the LA area. It would be best if they were in the valley.

I have been playing and self teaching for about 5 years now but feel like I have hit a wall. I know how to read music for the most part, but really have only done it for the trumpet. I want to learn more technique and just take it to another level.

In LA? You only shouldn't be able to find a good instructor, you should , by all means be able to find the best money can by. I wouldn't worry about finding a good instructor, I'd be worrying about which one to pick! If I were you, I'd pick one that I have a good chemistry with. That way you'd maximize on everything he/she has to offer.

Thanks for the input! I was hoping I could find someone on here that someone had learned from and could point me towards. Thats my biggest problem is there are so many on craigs list and what not I cant pick!

i have been having some trouble finding a teacher out here in LA, i have been getting lessons from my gigging friends who are either too busy or pretty slim on the theory side

Denny Croy. He manages Mccabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. Teaches both upright and electric.

I took lessons from Roger Shew, he teaches at fullerton college. It could be a bit of a drive for you but I recommend him if you are looking for good theory too.

He is also in talkbass.
