Good But Cheap Acoustic Bass

Hey! If you don't like it, and assuminf you're buying it from MF, you've got 45 days to return it.
For $200, it's a small gamble with little to lose. As someone else said, if nothing else, they're great to keep out on a stand and, when you hear a song or suddenly think you've got some bass run figured out, you can just pick it up and play it.
Though they are somewhat limited in their usefullness, I don't ever see myself as not owning one.

Anyone have experience or thoughts on the Dean Rhapsody Hollowbody Fretless Bass - Trans Amber??? Would like an acoustic but also a first time fretless.

This is the first time that I like an acoustic bass-guitar performance/sound, but for sure this one is not a cheap instrument and you are not Esperanza... Are you?
The more I read about those who own an ABG, the less I want one.
To each their own.
Pretty sure that one is several thousands dollars. ^^
I have an Epiphone El Capitan it is a 2004 and it is all Maple - I stole it on Craigslist and it sounds great - typical 5 Band EQ on it and plugged in it sounds huge. So there is my recommendation - you can find them used relatively cheap - nice necks and mine sounds pretty good.

Oh man.....I couldn't imagine being without one! A great addition to the toolkit.....especially when properly outfitted!
Of the several I've owned, I've now come to realize that ABG's are not properly outfitted for practical use right off the wall, or out of the box, as the case may be. While this "stock" setup might be fine for practicing or jamming along with the radio, you really need to get a set of tapewounds on it and get it properly setup. It will sound alot better and make it much more enjoyable to play in an acoustic setting.
I don't use it too much in the rock setting but, most of the jams with friends, or at house parties, are acoustic and with just a small amount of amplification, you can still maintain the acoustic ambience and it sounds good too! Almost like an upright......it's just different!

Sounds great, stays in tune, no intonation problems, I love mine. I've had two of them, a 4 and a 5, have since sold the 4 because I don't need a pair of ABG's.
The downside: the stock electronics suck ass -- undersaddle transducer that sound like total crap. Shadow P7 is what mine has (had).
I pulled that out of mine and replaced it with the $89 ABG pickup kit from Gollihur and now that baby SINGS.
