Good cab to go with GK 700rb-II?

What have you guys tried? I don't know much about cabs, and I'm trying to buy this amp and I need a cab to go with it! The only one I've tried it with is the GK NEO 410. I liked it. What other cabs do you recommend?

edit: I'm looking for a 4x10 cab. Or maybe a 2x15

Seems like a rough estimate of how many speakers I need. I have a 15" in speaker in my combo amp now and it's not cutting it.

Seems like 4x10 and 2x15 happen to be the cabs in my price range also. Typically when I try out rigs buddies of mine own, they have a 4x10 cab and that's the size rig I'd like to have for gigging purposes.

Any other recommendations are welcome, however.

It doesn't really work that way...

There are 2x12 cabs, for example, that will out-perform most 2x15 cabs. Or most 4x10s too, for that matter...:hmm:

Focus on:

* tone/frequency response
* total power handling ability
* perceived loudness/SPL
* form factor
* size
* weight
* impedance

These seven factors, plus a few others, are considerably more important than the size & number of drivers in the cabinet. (That said, I personally like 2x12s and 1x12s....:smug:)

Thanks. I was under the impression that more speakers = more volume. Or is this not always the case?

Have you tried the GK amp? Any good cabs of any size that you liked with it? I need to know what to try out!

More spkrs = more volume is a generalization. There are many other factors. It's a complicated mess really. But, you're in luck. There's so many good cabs on the market these days. Oh, and +1 to looking at 2x12's. There are some of those that kick butt.

I'm using GK NEO 412 with it - awesome. I'd probably go 2 x 212 GK NEO if I was you, simply for modulated possibility.
I also used Ampeg 810E prior to my 412 - a different flavor of great with that classic Ampegy blanket and grind, but a little too heavy for my needs now.
I tried it with Ampeg 410HLF - hated it. All low end boomy mud, no mids, lost in mix right away. More of a "feel bass" thing rather than "hear bass" - not my thing at all.

Having enough experience w/GK, and being a bit older, ya can't go wrong with a Hartke 410XL. That sound was all the rage back in the day, and IMHO, still sounds great. If ya really want a 4x10, there's my two cents. But listen to the general advice, try out as much as you can. 12's are a great speaker. A 2x12 or a pair of 1x12's could end up working out great. Let your ears be the judge.

I switched to this amp from an SVT 4-pro last month, and have used it with a my ampeg 6-10, which kills, but have just moved to an Aggie stack- DB212 and DB115. I've used these together and alone, and if I could only have 1 I'd choose the 212.

But if you play aggressive music, that 6-10 is like a banshee. If only you were in NC...
