Good, cheap audio interface

EDIT: I see the Saffire 6 supports sample rates only up to 48khz, while the 2i2/2i4 goes up to 96.

Just in case anyone is interested, the Focusrite Saffire 6 has been upgraded and the current generation is USB 2.0 and supports sample rates up to 96khz. I received mine about a month or so ago and was pleasantly surprised that it was in fact 2.0 and not 1.0
 
So i got the 2i2. I'm not entirely satisfacted as for the volume and the latency when monitoring through the DAW, since it's pretty much the same as before. I use the direct monitoring of course, but it's weird not to see an improvement. Any advice on making the most out of this interface?

as for the volume thing, why would it be different? should be no reason for it do be any different. and also latency is latency, it could be the information getting passed over USB is not being processed quick enough by your computer/laptop...BUT im not 100% familiar with audition, but with some software (for example Ableton) there is an option in the setting to adjust the USB latency. i haven't had any real latency issue.
 
Have you set it up correctly with the latest sapphire audio drivers?

Yep, I downloaded them from the site, though I should say I was disappointed by the lack of options. I mean, there's only a buffer size and sample rate option and that's about it. And i've yet to figure out how to set it to 24 bit for music listening.

As mentioned before, try ASIO drivers if you haven't already. If there are no specific ASIO drivers for your interface, then look for Asio4All.

What driver are you using? I've found that to be the biggest determination of latency. Try downloading ASIO4ALL. That's what I use, and my latency is quite reasonable.

It's usually a function of the DAW software to account for the latency. Setting recording should automatically see the latency and adjust the track.
Maybe there's some setting in your software you need to turn back on
 
I'm using the Roland Tri-Capture USB interface, pretty good for the price!!!

There are 3 ways to connect things to this interface: a XLR mic in (with switchable phantom power!!), a 1/4 TRS with a hi-z switch for guitar/bass and stereo RCA inputs, all with independent volume knobs. BUT you can only rec 2 separate channels at a time (or all channels connected mixed down to a stereo track). You can also switch on the input monitor and get real time monitoring.

It records in 24bits and up to 96khz.

The outputs are balanced TRS 1/4 plus phones out with a dedicated volume knob.

Latency is not bad for a cheap interface. The driver is ASIO. You can choose from 112 to 960 samples so in the lower settings you get a good low latency for recording (thou I almost always use the direct monitoring...)

This thing never crashed or glitched when I was listening/playing/recording audio in my PC, much different from the m-audio usb interfaces I had, that every once in a while would require me to turn the unit off then on again (or even reboot the computer) to get the thing working again...

A friend of mine had a couple usb Edirol interfaces (the UA series I guess) and he never got those m-audio-like problems too.
