good movies; bad endings

sequels are generally an attempt to cash in on a successful project by making it again.....my guess is that the pythons would have none of that.....i wish more studios thought that way,and took chances on original stuff instead of trying to franchise everything that make a few bucks......

the best part is it could have been even longer xD they completely skipped the "scourging of the shire" part.

As much as a loved The Book of Eli, the VERY ending (Books on shelf, "returning") was super lame. The huge plot twist wasn't so bad, in my opinion (it was actually pretty cool if you actually believe the Bible), but the last scene seemed to negate the impact of the twist.

The theatrical ending of I Am Legend was really bad. It totally destroyed the entire purpose of the movie. The bonus ending with the collector's edition is WAAAAAAYYYYY better.

Were you watching the theater version of The Abyss or the version that Cameron intended to release? The latter (special edition, director's cut...whatever it's called) fills in some of the holes and adds to the ending although it still ends with a deus ex machina. I thought that version definitely made more sense and was more enjoyable.

I appreciated that final twist. It was pretty messed up - one of the few instances where the movie actually has more g'nads than the book. ;) (In the commentary they pointed out that it also ties back to Marcia Gay Harden's character & suggests maybe her prophecy was right - as much as we'd hate to think so.)


Anyway, my vote goes for 28 Days Later. The film would have been perfect with the "alternate" ending. But by the time you sit through the lamer theatrical ending, then cue up the alternate, the spell is broken. At least for me.

yea it was the theater version. my roomate was watching it with me and was like "***? they took a huge chunk out of the ending".. something about a giant wave or something?

The Matrix Revolutions -- The first 2 were amazing the last movie was weak in many areas
and outright cheez in others (the APUs raising their "fists" after Mifune jives them up seems kinda funny when I watch it lately - its almost Robocop funny but sadly it isnt supposed to be.)

Starship Troopers -- "It's afraid!! YAY!!!!!! THE END"

The Science part of that movie was terrific. The Religion and Politics parts were awful. I didn't read Sagan's book, but I'd hate to think he populated it with so many cartoon characters.

The remake of Planet of the Apes sucked, but the ending was just breathtakingly dumb. What the **** were they thinking when they cobbled that pile of crap into such a magnificent mountain of stupidity? :rollno:

i would say that the matrix revolutions doesn't count cuz it was never good at any point, let alone great. (and btw the second matrix sucked too.. they should have stopped after the first one. damn you greed.)

I thought the ending made the movie. It was brutal, but that was kinda the point.

The Sixth Sense OTOH! :D
