good PASSIVE 5 string under 1000$

i tested it again today, along with ibanez atk 5 string, yamaha 375, cort jazz, olp and fender mex deluxe
(also a warwick but the neck felt wired to me)

i like its tone most ! especially cause its passiv and the b still rocks your socks off!

either a used g&l 1505 / 2500 or a new g&l tribute 2500. sure they are active basses, but you can run them passive. i think they sound better passive anyway.

i left my L-1505 plugged in all weekend once. i took the battery out and i never bothered to replace it.

I didn't read through all of the other post here but my suggestion is to get one of those new five string Fender Jazz Bass 24 V basses and snatch the battery out.

Not sure where you live, but I got my Warwick Corvette Standard 5 for around $900 new from the local GC. It's passive MEC J pups with an ash body. Outplayed anything in it's class I tried.

I tried one of these at my local GC, and was very impressed. I didn't know the Corvette was available passive, and I really liked it. I prefer the tone of Fender's American Deluxe Jazz (even though it's active), but prefer the Warwick's neck, no question.
