Good portable recorder that can handle bass?

Hey all, I'm looking for a good portable recorder that can handle bass! I just want it to 'take notes' of bass lines I'm working on, etc. and do a quick recording and listen back to later (...to be able to remember it Thanks!

Then I support Seamonkey. Get one of the Zoom recorders. Only disadvantage: you can’t directly connect a bass, you need a di box or something similar.
If you have a decent smartphone, you could just use that. The iPhones for example sound more than acceptable. Just use Garageband for recording. You could also buy a small usb interface for your smartphone. Most interfaces work with smartphones.
Or if a good mic is enough, I would highly recommend the Shure MV88 and your smartphone.

I use the DR-05 as well. Works great, easy to use and grabs a surprisingly good room recording. No problem grabbing bass accurately. I will likely move on to something more advanced. But's really just GAS.

+1 for the DR-05. Stupid easy, basically set it and forget it.

Did you read the thread? He wants a recorder with mics AND a hz input. None of the Zoom handy recorders have a hz input. If it’s only for memory purposes I would use my smartphone.

My zoom has stereo mics and two combo jacks. Just about all of the h and q series zoom recorders do. I can mic my cab with it, I can run xlr out of my head to it, or 1/4inch straight out of my pedalboard. They also have built in mixers and compressors. No problem recording a single bass or even an insanely loud concert and it sounds good. But I agree modern phones do a good enough job if you’re recording for your own purposes and not planning on releasing the recordings. Really my only gripe about my q series is the battery wore out after a couple years. so now I have to have it plugged it while using it.
