Good solid practice effect/box/pedal?

Hope this is in the right section.

Can u guyz suggest a reasonably priced training/practice aid with click tracks, drum/rythmn patterns, metronome, and perhaps some instructional bass lines?

I would first say an iPad, great practice tool, can play your bass through it along to your fav songs, plenty of drum/metronome apps.

Also some Looper pedals have what you're looking for, I have a Boss RC-3 wich has 10 built in drum beats, and you can add your own.

JS-5 jam station. They're MD'd but can be found used on ebay all the time. Takes me about 5 mins to punch in a song from the real book for backing tracks. I wish they would do an updated version. As a practice tool it's amazing.

Love my Pandora PX4D. Haven't tried the PX5, but am considering an upgrade if/when my PX4 dies.

The Pandora PX4D is what I use almost 95% of the time at home. I can use a 1/8" stereo cable from my laptop head phone Jack to the line in of the px4d and have accompanying music. I then have a really nice set of Grado SR225 headphones out of the px4d and it sounds great. It has some neat effects like octaver and envelope filter and bunch of others. They aren't great, but it gives a good idea of what can be had later if you don't know what effects you might want.

I never tried the new 5 either, but I'm sure its better as its more geared towards bass. Most of the effects are for guitar, but you can use them if you want.

I use mine with a 1/8" out of my ipod into the PX4D, my bass into it and headphones out. I at times also use a splitter on the output and go to headphones as well as direct into my laptop to record youtube videos with a webcam. The 5 has a usb output that can be used as an audio input on a computer, which is one of the things I like.
