Hey I was wondering if anyone has any idea what would be a decent set of speakers for my PC. I'm thinking a 2.1 system would be best. Although 5.1 might be cool as well. Anyone like to share some experiences or where I might find out info reviews etc.

Good Speakers For PC

I have a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 set. I've gotta tell you, they sound absolutely great for computer speakers. Can get them for roughly $150 or so.

Budget would have to be roughly 200 and down which for all intensive purposes you could conisder to be $200
Logitech. THX certified. Very inexpensive, comparitively, and always tops the ratings, over much higher priced systems. I have two systems, including one I got for $75 that RULES.

For that cash, I recommend ESI nEar-05 active studio monitors. Thomann has the older non-Xperience models on blowout for less than 200€ for a pair.
Two friends of mine have a pair each and I like them, they have excellent sound and bass response for the price, similar to real bookshelf hi-fi speakers. I'm thinking about getting a pair to replace my Behringer MS-16's too.
I just routed my back up PC's sound card through an old Technics receiver/amplifier and some wooden floor speakers three feet high.
Cost was $12 (US) for the cable, and the sound is unbelievable. Space may be an issue, but if you have old stereo gear laying around (mine is 1970's vintage), have fun.

For many years, my PC sound was a pair of old (but very good sounding, and INSANELY efficient) 8-track stereo speakers from the 70s. I actually just hooked them to the sound card with some simple ratshack adapters (my sound card [PAS 16] at the time had 4 watts per side).
Now, this is LONG before most people had anything better than wimpy plastic 2" drivers for sound on their PCs (I'm on board with PCs since the DOS 3.3/386SX 16 Mhz days).
People used to come over my house, and nearly crap their pants when they heard the sound coming from my PC...
