Good strings for a Danelectro?

Hey guys,

I went on a little weekend tour over the past weekend, and i ended up picking up a Danelectro Rumor bass for $80. Aesthetically... i LOVE it!! Mosrites and Univox/Eastwood hi-flyers are my favorite body shapes out there, and with the rumor having the P pickup instead of the jazz-ish pickups, it's pretty much my perfect set-up.

Now, while it doesn't sound BAD... the strings are old and cruddy. We all know that Dano's are super light weight, and i was just wondering if there are any strings that you all have used that really make them shine?!

Thanks!

Here's a stock pic of the bass... LOVE the blue-burst, and i'm picking up a battery today to check out the usability of its integrated chorus...

Don't know power pop from Polka but for Blues and classic rock I'd use labella Flats and for Funk I would use Black Beauties. Had a Longhorn and a Hodad. I'm guessing you could get a great upright sound with tapewounds as well. Saw a beat up RD artist in Chicago this week for $500. Can be had for less.
