Good strings for retro sound

Do any classics fans know some strings that sound like particular players?

No. I know basses that particular players used.

I love the sound of LaBella 760FL strings for a "vintage" vibe. I think Dunlop nickels have a great "vintage" type of sound. Some might argue that. To my ear, Rotosound SwingBass 66 have a very vintage vibe after they break in, but I don't care for the rough feel.

The sound on a specific track comes from a combination of factors, only one of which is the strings. You can't forget the instrument, the amp, the microphone, the D.I., the EQ...

Lol. Takes much more then strings to sound like a particuliar player. The most commonly used roundwounds in the olden days was Rotosound swing 66. Still used by lots of people today.
