Good strings for retro sound

No. I know basses that particular players used.

I love the sound of LaBella 760FL strings for a "vintage" vibe. I think Dunlop nickels have a great "vintage" type of sound. Some might argue that. To my ear, Rotosound SwingBass 66 have a very vintage vibe after they break in, but I don't care for the rough feel.

The sound on a specific track comes from a combination of factors, only one of which is the strings. You can't forget the instrument, the amp, the microphone, the D.I., the EQ...
