I'm fine with him ... he's certainly entertaining. Sure, he is quite over the top with his berating, demeaning attitude. Somehow, though, he always leaves me with the impression that he wants those he is working with to actually succeed - not just berating them for the sake of being a turd.
Whenever I cook with other people, I try to come up with Ramsay-isms. A few weeks back I told my friend that if her salad had more oil in it, the US would be invading it.
I enjoy his psychology take on the restaurant business, and his ability to cut through the crap in order to help people fix their places on Kitchen Nightmares. I don't enjoy the competition shows at all.
I'm a big fan of Gordon Ramsay. I think he's a great chef. The American shows are sensationalized and wacky with dramatic music and he turns up the yelling and it's all for ratings. That's fine. I get it. I always thought he had tons of integrity regardless of all that.
But now for some reason he's shilling a Phillips air fryer like he's Ron Popeil. What's going on? He can't need the money. I suppose it could just be as simple as they came to him with an offer and he took it but I never would've expected something like this from him.

The food he makes looks fantastic and it's obvious he's extremely talented and knowledgeable.
That said, he portrays himself to be a reprehensible douchebag who treats others poorly and acts like a 5 year old. I saw him admonish someone on Masterchef the other night for throwing something, only to see him throw a plate himself later on. On the other scripted turd of a show I can't turn away from, he always throws pans and plates, usually shattering the latter.
I doubt if he's like that in person. The G Ramsay on the F-Word is probably the real guy.
Some cultures believe the attitude of the chef is relayed to the diner via the food, like bad juju.

I don't know about his cooking skills, but in my opinion, no amount of skill justifies being a vile abusive jerk. About the same thing I said in the Hope Solo thread, if I recall.

When he's being a belligerent douche, it's for the show. I don't know the man but my impression of him has always been that he has integrity and cares about cooking.
But the air fryer videos are troubling. I don't understand why he's doing it.

This could help explain why he's endorsing consumer cookware. The Aug. 7th date is from 2014. No idea if the report is accurate.

According to a RadarOnline report, popular TV chef Gordon Ramsay is more than $50 million in debt.
Ramsay, who helps business owners on shows like Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell, and the umbrella company that handles his business endeavors, Kavalake Holdings, lost more than $10 million dollars in 2013.
The same report reveals that Kavalake has some $7 million in cash holdings but has $50.5 million in debt due in one year.

My wife watches BBC Lifestyle almost exclusively, and I think Gordon Ramsay has about 3-4 different shows on there. I like him. He's talented, smart, and entertaining.
His show where he cooks simple meals at home with his family is pretty good. I get the impression that is the "real" him, just being a chef, a dad, and a husband, not having to perform as much for the cameras and create drama. I think he has to get in character a bit for some of his other shows.
