I've got La Bella DTB 760M, the original '54, .52 .73 .95 and .110 Could I get a single La Bella stainless 760F at .128 to make it a 5 string set? Or is there too much difference between the 54s and the regular DTBs?

Got a 4 string set, now I need the right B...

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but I tried a four string set of chromes once with an Ernie Ball .130 round on a SR5 and it sounded great! A flat B string just didn't have the definition on the low notes like a round did. Believe or not, it blended in great among the other strings live and playing alone in my room.

I've been using the DTB 760FS set on a couple of basses for years, and I also have new a 1954 (760M) set waiting for my P-bass. I just checked them out and the '54 set seems to feel just like the 760FSs on my basses now, which is what you'd likely be getting if you ordered the 0.128.
The only difference I can see is that the silks won't match; the 1954 set has dark/navy blue, the regular DTB strings have black silks. I would add that a 0.128 is a bit light for a low B, but it may not be too far off. Ideally, to go with a 0.110 E, a 0.130-0.135 low B would likely be better. The 0.128 is probably made to go more with the 0.105 E set.
I hate a floppy low B, but you may be fine with it. Maybe tune to low C instead of B?

I'd say at least a .135 if not a .140 (if you can find one). Even a .140 will have less tension than a .070 D string.

A .110 at E begs for a pretty big B string - a .150 would have near-identical tension and is in the ballpark for what you ought to be looking for. A .140 might feel floppy given the gauges in the balance of the set.
I just got a La Bella .135 to go with the set I already had and man, I love it. Nice tension and a great sound on my active Squier jazz. Thanks for the tips everyone. This is the kind of thing that makes me glad I started coming here.
They do but I had picked up a new 4 string set of LaBellas and just needed the B.
I just bought a 5 string and was wondering if other people used their favorite four string set and just picked up the B somewhere else. I usually use the heavy bass boomers and they don't appear to sell a 5 string set.....still looking though. I might try the Cleartone .130 B. If the bass strings are anything like the guitar strings, it will certainly last a long time.
