Got a good 'Complisult?'

It's called a "complisult' - part compliment, part insult. ['Jeff" from Community] invented them.

There the type of statement where you don't immediately know if you should say 'thanks' or be pissed off. I just thought of a couple.

"Wow, that was a really good solo you played there, for a bass guitar solo, that is."

"You look nice! I like how you can 'dress down,' and still make it work!" - sort of related is a "I wish I had your self confidence to go out in public dressed like that!"

Anyone else have one?

I actually had this one happen to me... I was reminded of it with the "getting older" thread. It was disheartening...

I went in to get a haircut a few months back, and this really cute early 20-something girl. She asked if I wanted my ear hair cut. I said something like, "well, it's sad that I'm at a place in life where I gotta cut my ear hair."

She said something like "Don't worry about it! Lots of guys your age have to get it done! Yours is less then most!"

UG. I never went back to her again. Mostly because I moved. She did give me a really good haircut, though, including my ears. And eyebrows, too. Ug.

Usually mine are about someone being slightly less stupid than I had at-first assumed.

Something like: "Wow! You can hook up RCA cables!"
