Got a heavy bass? What strap do you use?

The Moody's 4" strap is shockingly comfortable .... I use the TB version which is a real bargain compared to the current Moody's pricing for the exact same strap. The only problem is that it maxes out at 54" with the extension ..... if you need a 60" strap the Moody's/TB won't work ... :hmm:

I have the 3 inch Levy just like the one your looking at, and it's very comfortable. I started using it with my stingray, but now I use it with all my basses. My guitarist uses it as well. It's very classy looking, and distributes the weight well. Adjusting it can be a pain it butt like any other leather strap. It does not stick to you at all, so if your bass has neck dive, it's still gonna dive on you. I've had mine for about 7 months now, and after several shows of pouring sweat, it still looks and feels new. In my opinion, an excellent choice.

Neotech Mega Bass Strap

I own have several heavy basses (Fender Jazz Five stings) and the levy straps work well. The suede backed ones don't slip as easy as the smooth finished ones. I made a custom bass that is a little neck heavy. It slips even with the suede straps and puts a lot more pressure on my shoulder. The Neotech strap works well with it but tops out at 51 inches.

I'm still searching for the ultimate strap, I've been through so many, I've got a Comfort Strapp on the way. I liked the Neotech Super Bass strap, currently I'm on a 3.5" padded leather strap with suede back by an Australian company Colonial Leather, which is great but its still a bit of a struggle when I'm hanging around the 1st-3rd fret area for a long time. I'm hoping the Comfort Strapp will help here, otherwise I'll probably shell out for a 4" Moody...

Maybe I just need to hit the gym and get my pansy shoulders into shape!

Well worn Fender leather strap.

I seem to gravitate towards heavy basses. I'm on the opposite side of the size continuum from the OP, 5' 2" and weigh in around 140. A supple strap that conforms to my shoulder is what works for me.

As far as mitigating the load on one's back, there are no shortcuts in my mind. Only time in the gym. Sorry.
