Got a heavy bass? What strap do you use?

Actually I've used some planet waves thick wide straps, and I've found the higher I have the bass with a shorter strap, the more comfortable it is to play. I have easier access to all the notes, and its pretty much less of a strain.

I just focus on doing lots of low back excercize at the gym, which is where I've had the most trouble.

I use short straps, any brand, now a days, as long as its suede.

I use the neotech superbass. It's not really long so if you're a big guy or just like to hang it low then you should look into longer ones. For neotech the super axe is longer.

If you're on a bigger budget comfort, moody and levy's seem good options. The best option still is a lighter bass. Some people around here say that their heavy bass feels like a feather with a good strap. I don't agree with this. A better straps divides the pressure and weight better, but at the end of the day every single pound is still hanging on your shoulder and starts to weigh after a while. If you really have problems with your back and shoulders I would suggest getting a lighter bass.

Another back surgery survivor here. I really like the Sadowsky strap and use it pretty exclusively although I also have a Comfort Strap.

For my heaviest bass (Stammie SC5 bubinga) I use a 4-inch Italia. Or for my next-heaviest (SRMM5) I use an old Ernie Ball 4" leather strap. It's 25+ years old, but I still love it!

Anything else, I have really good luck with the Sadowsky neoprene straps. I prolly like them than the Comfort and Brooklyn Gear neoprene straps I've owned.

I'm curious but does anyone know of any really long bass straps? I'm talking like 68"-76"? I'm 6'6" and fat and I'd really like to play my 6xer at more of a 45 degree angle but my strap which is a nice levi's suede one is not nearly long enough. I'd say its 52" and its about a foot short minimum.

Too bad on the thread move; bad judgement IMO; especialy after a few days, 1,300+ views and a lot of posts.

More visible and searchable in the bass guitar section and is very relevent due to what looks like a fair amount of mature players here; the misc. has much less interest and is sometimes just a freak show.
