Got a huge problem with Harley owners

Hmmm...I'm from the south and that's more of a rendition of a few sayings put together in one saying that is supposed to say something about pennies. I believe. Either that or its Texan for "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." Or if she's from East texas it probably means something along the lines of "Go Aggies!!"...

+100

When we played the Bayou Circuit(south Louisiana) in the 80's, there were a number of GREAT bikers at those gigs. Most would push you out of the way of an oncoming car and get squashed themselves. And most quickly silenced the very few like the Unhappy Person you met. One in particular we called "Fridge"(this was WAY BEFORE the Chicago Bears guy) who was the size of the doorframe(width & height). He used to carry our small-bodied light man around on his shoulders at gigs for fun. That and watch out for us like a true friend.

Sad in this life that some people have had their Happiness Plug come loose and all of their Happiness has leaked out forever.

FA GID DA BOUT IT!
Next time, just walk away. Unhappy Persons Disease(UPD) can be contagious.

May we never lose our Happiness Plug!!!

Yep...my biker friends will always help when help's needed, be there for their families and friends, and they've always got your back in a fight. If a drunken audience member is behaving in an unchivalrous fashion, I can count on my biker buds to teach him better manners.

Those folks rock!

Cherie :hyper:

Not to fan the flames but I see you're in Detroit (used to live in Lansing)...I bet there's a lot of 'deals' around this time of year in that neck of the woods. :D

Yeah, you're right...riding can be a meditation!

I just dropped an $800 check for my credit card, and I've still got $1500 left after that clears. I love using my credit card for the gas points, but DAMN do you forget about it when you're not paying cash when getting gas. It's almost like I forgot about that expense.

But I really need to finish the Stang. Cuz then the tranny and engine go back in the car, and that makes room for a bike. And then the seats and interior go back, and I have room for LIVING in my basement! It's a huge motivation to get that car done, so that I can have ROOM again! Like building my bass. No room to build it. Once I get the car done, I'll have so much of my life back.

And by May next year I'll be done paying for my truck, and that money can be diverted to a bike! \m/ \m/ But it's a BITCH of a wait until then...

You've got a plan, Bryan316, and the Mustang sounds like a gem. My bud in high school had a 69(?). Just a 289 ci with three speed manual...but that pony rocked!! Did a lot of partyin' in that Stang. Loved that car! Best of luck with the build. The bike will come when it's time...until then it's cool to look at 'em all...cuz there sure are a lot of bikes to chose from these days.

Crazy...I had a Pinto too. It was a blue 1973 and inherited from my grandmother. It did what you said...until I cracked it into a tree.

Mine was beige -- A BEIGE Pinto! Is there anything lamer than that?????

(PS: Apologies to any people who are unable to walk and who were offended by my use of the word "lame" in the previous paragraph. Believe me, you're better off lame than trying to get anywhere in a Pinto!)

I like bikes. But I don't like bikers. It's kinda like bands. For every cool biker I know, or every cool band I know, there's 4 dirtbag arrogant pricks to counter them and give a bad impression. I get disillusioned and dejected about someday finding an old hawg and rebuilding it like I did my Mustang, cuz that clique is such an abrasive arrogant mindframe. Even worse than the Ford-Vs-Chevy feudin' street rodders I already have to deal with. The day I buy a Harley, I'm gonna be associated with those A-holes who give bikers a bad rap.

Or worse, I'll be associated with those weekend warriors who only ride 20 miles a weekend and then put their bikes back into storage on the battery charger, cuz they're more concerned with resale value and keeping their miles low on their bikes, INSTEAD OF RIDING THE HELL OUTTA THEM.

Most of the Harley owners I know are lawyers, professors or other professionals. They're the only ones who can afford them. and most are weekend warriors, indeed. I don't mind the poseurs, although I can poke fun at them. My problem with Harleys is loud pipes. There have to be limits.

Reminds me of a July trip to Jackson Hole WY a few years ago - the weekend/summer Harley riders were converging. We passed a couple of them riding along - with $30,000 SUVs dragging chase trailers behind them. what does it say about your bike when you need a chase vehicle with a trailer to follow you?

At any rate, when we walked past the silver dollar bar in Jackson, there was a line of about 30 bikes at the curb. I walked down them and found ONE - just ONE - with actual dirt and a mark on it. I called my daughters over and said "here's a REAL motorcycle - it has a scratch and dirt on it. Someone actually rides this one."

Me? I'm an ex-bike rider with a 6" steel plate in my left leg. I am most comfortable with a bit more steel around me, thanks.

I used to ride, then I sold the bike to afford university. Now that I had my accident, it will be cheaper for me to buy a motorcycle than to buy another car (figure that one out), so I might just buy a nice small sport bike, throw on a few mods and have a quick and fun way to get around. But I really should just suck it up and buy another car.
