Got a NOTE on my car from neighbor

Ok, I think I just earned my way into being an official bassist, I got 'the note' that I'm too loud and a complaint has been filed, and so... I say.. :hyper: :hyper: *oops*

I didn't realize detached apartment units could still feel or hear a bass at what I thought was low volume..

But now, I wear headphones right, well, couple times, I was playing at 2-3am w/ headphones, volume loud in headphones with bass eq'd very low.. like reggae dub bass...

But I was like, hmm.. why am I "feeling" it?? Holy S***t.... I had both the speakers and the headphones.

It must of been blasting full blast at 3am for 6-7 minutes.

Wonder if I'll find a new note...

I'm not impressed with the whole passive-agressive note writing junk. If you are a repeat offender then they should come talk to you in person. If this is your first and only offense they should let it pass. I'm not sure why but I've had neighbours who get worked up about things like that. It is beyond mentally healthy to carry on to those means.

Complaint filed, but no cops? Link Removed

Exactly, I met a local drummer/funeral director that has been visited on multiple occasions by police, and they continue to ask him real 'nice-like' to take it down a notch. The guy practices in his garage with the door shut, and owns a zero lot line house that is practically-inches from his neighbors...

Non-confrontational people will grab a phone (to police) in a heatbeat rather than knock on a door, or go face-to-face.

You would be surprised. If there is a water or sewer main running underneath both units, bass can travel. I used to have a neighbor the next house over--separated by a driveway and building setbacks from the property line--whose bass could be clearly heard in my bedroom (but not other parts of the house). A sewage main was the culprit.

Exactly what I was thinking. If his car is on the driveway to leave the note on, he's probably at home. Pay him a ****ing visit.

Just do what I did the ONE time it happened. Go door to door until you find the neighboor who wrote it (unless you know who it is) and extend a hand and sincerely apologize.

This will make you look like you are the nice guy and he is the ass****.

In my case, my neighbor felt like an idiot and saw what kind of guy I was. Not an idiot playing loud music to bother my neighbors but some decent guy who simply did not know he was bothering his neighbors.
