Yup, it sucked. I was traveling south on 29 in Virginia. I was going the speed of traffic and was the one to get caught. 71 in a 60. It just sucks because of the insurance rise and the cost of the ticket.

71 in a 60? In NJ that's a ticket for going too slow!![]()
Sucks man. Everything here is 65 or 55, and I tend to follow it by ~5 unless I'm on the thruway.

lmao.71 in a 60? In NJ that's a ticket for going too slow!![]()
Heh, that's the same around here. The odd thing was there was someone who passed me, I guess the cop wanted the easier kill.
Normally I do 5 over on regular roads and 10 over on highway. I guess it's time I change this?
EDIT:
I got a ticket in '06 for a 1-9 violation, does anyone know how much this 11 over ticket is going to raise my insurance? That's 2 tickets within a year. What sucks is I have settled down a lot since the original ticket. I used to cruise around 90 and get upwards of 113/123 (depending on the vehicle I was in). Now I'm setting the cruise control to 9 over everytime I hit a highway just to make sure I don't get that 10 over violation. This case I was going downhill and didn't realize (care) that I was doing another 2mph.
you can, but most cops don't bother, because so many people go a little over.Wait wait, you don't get a ticket if you go under 10?
In Virginia the penalty is stiffer for going 10 over. I think it's 3 points on your license for going 1-9 over and 4 points for 10-19 over. 20 over or anything above 80 and it's reckless driving, a class 1 misdemeanor criminal offense.Wait wait, you don't get a ticket if you go under 10?
I know some departments actually have policies that they won't give tickets unless you're going a certain amount over. Someone told me around here it's 12+ but I don't know if that's accurate.you can, but most cops don't bother, because so many people go a little over.
a lot of cops i know really only go for people going 15+ over.
Was on the GSP yesterday going down to visit James in Toms River. Getting passed going 95.lmao.
that's exactly what popped into my head.
we're crazy here in jersey. Was on the GSP yesterday going down to visit James in Toms River. Getting passed going 95.
Yes, that's with cops watching and not moving.
Either that or they were just surprised to see an El Camino doing 95![]()

karrot, where were you caught and what did he use to get your speed?
it should say on your summons. I'm guessing either M RADAR or LIDAR. I ask because I'm trying to figure out who has laser these days. Also, do you remember if it was state police, county, sherriff, etc?I was actually issued a wreckless ticket in June of 06. I was able to get that down to a 1-9 violation. I was pulled over on 29 going south, I think it was a little passed Warrenton. I have no idea what she used to get my speed.
That's not fair to get a ticket for going 71. Do cops have ticket quotas that they have to meet down there?
