Got Drug tested today

Someone grazed it, but ya gotta realize that employers are loving the intimidation factor in this equation. We own you.

Then there's companies that use the mouth swab - which supposedly is shorter term - and other ruses so that they can get there lower insurance rates while still passing (and keeping) their employees that they know are druggies. Happened to a friend of mine who worked at a medical testing lab that, yes, did make plenty of money processing drug tests. I should say ex friend because I got tired of his junky ways, that at least one of his supervisors knew about.

supposedly my "dad" signed me up

i call bs cause i filled out the paper work muh self this year:rollno:

If this is true (and I have no reason to believe it's not) then this is the most ridiculous part. If your dad didn't sign you up then you are being lied to. And if he did, then it's an even bigger load of crap.

Which parents are going to sign their kids up for random drug testing? Involved, concerned (perhaps overly so) and cautious parents. The ones whose kids are less likely to be doing drugs in the first place. And those parents that have no idea what is going on in their kids lives? I don't see them returning the forms. So you end up with the kids least needing to be tested getting randomly selected.

Dumb.

Dumb on so many levels. :rollno:

It's never random. My buddy is covered in Tat's.. He's a GOOD guy, never does anything wrong and he is constantly harassed by police. Just last week he was in the left turn lane, making a turn, and somebody in the opposing direction was in a turn lane behind another car, he changed his mind and almost hit my buddy in the intersection while my friend turned... WELL, a cop saw that, they came to him with guns drawn, made him keep is hands outside the window while he got out, they took him to the ground, cuffed him, searched his car for almost an hour and when they found nothing, no priors, no warrants (They asked if his parole officer was alright with him breaking the law... he's never done anything, and has no parole officers) they let him go, and gave him every single ticket they could.

This happens to him all the time, cause he's covered in tattoo's... The tatt's are vine's and flowers... lol.

he doesn't drink, or smoke, doesn't do drugs, doesn't party, he's a college graduate (Fellow sound engineer) and extremely accomplished guitard (A damn good one)
It's said, ain't it? Same crap happens like that around here from time to time. Gotta love the cops.... Or not. :scowl:

for school or what?

i'm not sure about you, but i'd have a big problem with that being an invasion of privacy.

likewise, last time i was drug tested, it was for a job application, and it was first thing in the morning and i peed as part of my morning routine. i forgot i had to hold it. so we get to the place and i can't perform. i hate peeing in cups.

Chicks hate peeing in cups more. Nothing like getting it all over your hands because we can't aim like you guys can.

Your school can drug test you for no reason (ie not in athletics)? That's gotta be a breach of some civil right. They have no control over what you do outside of school, as long as you are not arrested (then they usually tend to find out).

I think the cops at the door at prom or whatever is stupid. I went sober to both of my proms, and had an absolutely horrible time.

This country is SO freaked out about teens drinking, but it's our own fault for making them want to do it and do it in excess. If we were like almost every other country in the world, drinking wouldn't be a big deal, and kids wouldn't have the taboo factor to make them feel "cool" for doing it.

And as far as "jazz cigarettes" go... as long as you do it in privacy, and maintain a professional image... no one will ever know :).

Hey UJ, did you talk to your dad about this? OctoberMoon is right. Either they are lying to you (if you're Dad didn't consent to it), or your Dad has issues with you (in which case you need to confront your Dad about this and explain to him why this is wrong).

However, I get the sneaky suspicion, that a lot of this is based upon how you look. I can't shake the feeling that you've been profiled. I've seen pictures of you. You look like a funky playa with a fro. I bet some square administrator looked at you and said "test him". Lame on many levels. I'm not even going to address the race thing. I certainly hope that you weren't profiled based upon that. Man I hope not.

Another thing. If I was a parent, and found that a school district was wasting funds on "random testing" of students, I'd be pissed. Let's say these tests are 200 bucks each (I've seen the way vendors charge school districts and government entities, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's more) well if they test 20 students that's 2000 bucks. That's almost two computers for that school. Personally, I'd rather see my school district spending money on equipment and supplies for students than testing them for drugs.

Agree.

Like anti-drug programs? Fix the problem before it starts.

And damn I'm glad I'm homeschooled.
