GOT MY BONGO!

Exactly. In fact, you better beware... the bass is probably becoming more transparent every day you don't post. By now, you're probably wondering why you can't pick it up anymore... your hands just pass right thru it... eventually, it will be "erased from existence"... it's the TB curse... so POST SOON BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! SAVE YOUR BONGO!!!!

:hiding:

I have both a GK and an EBS, and I have to say right now the EBS has top billing. Both are awesome, but that EBS compressor is so nice and transparent.

Yummy! What model of each brand do you have? Ebs ROCKS - as we all know.

BTW - the Bongo still - after a few days - is the best bass I´ve played. I hade a stingray before but...the BONGO is SOOOO MUUUCH BETTER!! Once again, thank you Ernieball!!

...the craftmanship is...heavenly! :hyper: :D

HD350 and 1001RB-II (the newer 700W one). I almost bought a Gorm, but the weight turned me off, plus I like the flexibility of having a head I can do whatever I want with regarding speakers. For example, I just picked up a pair of Aguilar GS112's, as I'm trying to go to a "high power micro-rig" kinda' thing. My other cabs are a pair of Eden 210XLT's, which I love, but they're a lot bigger and heavier.

IMHO, even tho the EBS is only a "350W" head, i'd put it up against any 500W (or more) head any day... PLENTY of guts, and so light weight! As a side note, I got it kinda' unexpectedly. I wasn't even lookin' for a head, but someone had this one up for sale at $600, so I couldn't pass it up.

In case yer interested, here's my current "micro powerhouse". I really love it!

 that´s one heck of a rig! Aguilar AND EBS! Now all that´s missing is...some Ampeg-stuff on the top!:)

Ok, now I´ve had the bongo for like 3 days and I´ve been playing like hell! The bass is GREAT and the sounds I get out of it is everything from a fat Stingray to a P-bass on steroids. It´s awesome!

BUT - just like some of you guys mentioned in other threads about the bongo - it´s a tad weird to slap over the neckpickup IMO. I thought it wouldn´t be a problem before I got the bass...but I can´t seem to get that clear "dig in" when I pluck. It´s like my fingers are afraid of hurting the pickup...or something.

But, I guess it´s something that I just have to adjust to. :smug:

Oh no, you didn't... Ampeg... ewwww... :)

Man I know their reputation and heritage, but they just don't have what I want. I've tried many times to love Ampeg and failed every time. I know there's lotsa' great players who have'm and love'm, and I know they're high quality. Just not at all my thing. :)

Congrats to my Swedish neighbour! I too am interested in getting a Bongo. Did you get yours from home or abroad? Your tax is probably just a big a pain as ours?

BTW, how are the prices on EBS (in kronor) in Sweden? I think they are quite expensive here in Norway. I was thinking of the 2x10 combo that EBS make.

As you point out I am a bit worried about the slap "problem" with the bongo. I have a 5 string Stingray and there's no problem there! ;)

Can't say I'm crazy about the looks of the Bongo but I played one last month and I was impressed with the sound and overall
construction of it. It is solidly put together and the neck is comfortable. It's a bit heavy for my old bones too. if someone wanted to give me one it would have to be the orange one. Enjoy it man. New basses are so much fun!!!
