GR Bass review

If you're a distributor for their cabs it may merit a follow-up so you can answer the question sufficiently for people interested in buying them. Back before the pandemic I was very interested in the slim 212 AT cab as an option on gigs with challenging load-ins. Given the initial reports of weird resonances and the guts shot I mentioned previously I decided to hold off purchasing one until some of the bugs had been worked out. Having a response from the manufacturer, which to my knowledge has not been provided here on TB, would be best, but having one of their distributors provide information from the manufacturer would be a close second and may result in more people feeling confident about a purchase. It would certainly go a long way towards loosening my grip on my wallet :p

I have the AT212 slim and zero issues, it sound great.

I hope they get them, meanwhile you can go to the bass shop in Seattle they have a regular GR Bass 210 that you can test.
That’s the dealer I’m describing and they happen to be less than a mile from my house. I have zero interest in the regular GR cabs. The only, and I do mean ONLY, thing that interested me about GR cabs was the AT line. I already have excellent cabs but none that clock in at less than 30 lbs and are capable of playing a gig with a live band and a drummer playing full tilt.

They are sure great folks, when I was station in Fort Lewis, WA, I loved to go visit the old store bass northwest, same great folks too. Well, brother it seems that have no need for a immediate cab, so all I can say is that just going have to wait for the bass shop to have one available.

I also have to add as a PSA, now that I know there are different generations of these cabs - in my version, the top handle, (which is the only handle,) is not fully recessed. The handle grip rises 3/8" above the flat surface. My Glockenklang couldn't clear it, and I suspect that a lot of lightweight class D heads don't come with 1/2" or taller rubber feet. Just something to look for if purchasing.

I'm definitely going to contact GR Bass to see if a replacement is available.

Absolutely, we will help you!

I reached out to GR Bass a week ago regarding the handle. They asked for a photo and the dealer that I bought it from. No reply if they can/will assist.

I think I just may have an odd prototype. As an early adapter, it wouldn't be the first time. Cab works fine, that's what counts.

We are talking with USA distributor and He is going to contact you. Don't worry, we are going to resolve your situation

I received a response.

"The problem is that you bought your cabinet in a store after trying it, so you the saw the type of handles before buying."

The cab was purchased on reverb. I'm just going to move on, I've already posted too much on the topic.

That’s a crummy response for an online purchase. Hopefully that was from the distributor and not directly from GR.

Sorry Travis but you never mentioned Reverb in your email,

This email:
Hello,
Thank you for the quick reply. I purchased the cabinet from GR Dealer Specialty Traders in Parkersburg, WV USA.

I was so impressed by the sound quality and construction of my AT212 Slim and my One800 that i decided to try the GR Bass preamp/DI pedal and the In-ear monitor I-12 for my Church and, wow I am blown away how good this equipment really sounds. Through the years I have never care to get all my gear out of one company because there is really a lot of good stuff out there, but let me tell you all this gear is just great. I recommend it to any one to check out this gear.

My demo is out, link in the above post. But more than the demo, I've actually had some gigs (miracles never cease!) to try it on, and the One 350/208 setup is really making me happy. The gigs have been full bands, but not hard rock/metal volume... Both outdoor venues, so no room dynamics to help out, just that rig in the open air. The GR Bass "mini rig" (that's what I call it) kicked ass, plain and simple. And having the chance to play the same venue, with the same band, but swapping out the wood 208 for the graphite one made the sonic advantage very clear. The tone isn't noticeably different, but the projection and punch were increased with the AT model.

The Mavericks have some acoustic shows coming up and my Greenboy F215 is going to be too much, so I'm going to plug in an AT112 with a ONE 800 head for those gigs.
