Double Bass Grace Design's ALiX

I Don't know, the ALiX is not yet released, and no manual is yet available.

It would not surprise me though, to find that there is a dip switch on board to change the 12v from R to T similar to the FELiX.

At Least on the Felix, the DIP switches don't control that function, there are internal jumpers that can be moved around to accomplish that.
The DIP only turns the 12v phantom power on and off. My guess is that tha the Alix is set up the same way.

I talked with a rep at Grace, the ALiX has the same internal jumpers. Those allow you to assign the 12V Phantom to either tip or ring.

Seems to me like the Felix is really then getting a built in Grace 101 for a lot less money + so much more functionality....I understand the need for the Alex but man the Felix can sure do a lot...(It is Big...) Now would one of you brainy types please come up with the perfect demure high powered featureless (no eq) power amp to pair with either of these wonderful preamps?

+1 At the anticipated price of the ALiX
(@$600.00) there are some features of the Felix that I would really miss. Especially the 48volt Phantom. That said, regaress of the features the EQ section is the best I've experienced. The M700 from Jule is the best match. My only wish would be that it was smaller.

I use my Felix (serial #004) with a Peavey IPR3000. Works great. I run my bass (Starfire with Alembic SII pickups and electronics) in stereo through an F2B for tone control and then the Grace. It's an amazing sounding and very flexible rig. I was thinking about getting two Alixs, though, since the unbalanced output of the Felix is mono and it would be nice to run each pickup through its own speaker. However, there may be a workaround.

I just pulled the trigger on an Alix and have 7 days to compare it to my Headway EDB2.
It will be paired with m QSC K8.2 and. Luciano Golia with DAVID Gage lifeline.
I thought about the Felix and I really don’t need two channels since I sold my Troll mic.

I tried both units all weekend send I don’t see enough of a difference to keep the Alix.
My Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and SL112 works.

The Felix is kind of pricey. Most of the time I don't use the second channel with a microphone either. The EDB-2 has it's advantages because it's
so freekin small and can be powered up with batteries. One caveat here, if you need it repaired after the warranty, it used to have to be
shipped back the Headway in GB. Did they ever address that with a U.S. service option?

I much preferred the size and design of the Alix over the EDB-2 but sound wise , not so much.
I don’t know about the warranty repair issue.
