Grammy commentary

Jackson Brown stepping in on the Glen Frey tribute with the Eagles was cool.

I couldn't place who that was, and I'm glad you told me.
I think Glenn would approve!

Lionel Ritchie onstage was cool.

I thought he was going to cry when they panned to him during Demi's vocals. I think she nailed it!

Yeah, clearly some sound issues, bus that's live.

I thought Adele killed it! What sucked about it??

I was very disappointed in the GaGa Bowie tribute - didn't like her voice with the material at all. Fashion and Fame kinda sorta worked, but the rest was a let down.

Looking forward to seeing Alabama Shakes (DVR).

And is Beiber supposed to be legit now that he has a guitar in his hand? Whatever.

when she tried to go up high x2, I cringed she was so flat. Even my wife who's nearly tonedeaf said "That sounds awful!" And another time she went up high her voice broke up. You could see it in her face she was disappointed in her performance when she finished. I like her voice generally, but that was far from her best. Didn't look like she was wearing in-ears. That could've had something to do with it. I dunno. I'm just a dumb bass player.

Adele had a bad night. She was consistently flat and had trouble hitting notes at all. I didn't like the song much and thought it was very technically difficult. Not a good choice.

I was amazed that Gaga wasn't totally out of breath at the end of her medley. I liked the set.

Interesting how people can walk away with two completely different perspectives on the exact same performances.

Why does Taylor Swift make that "I'm so surprised" face when she wins? Her entire career has been about hiring the right songwriters, producers, managers, PR team, marketing people and record executives to win Grammys. That's like a Wall Street bank acting surprised when they get a bailout. She got her first Madison Avenue manager when she was 9yo. Her "I'm a sweet small town girl" persona is fabricated. She ain't Dolly Parton, she's the Monkees.

They're just ok. I saw them on SNL not too long ago & thought, ah mediocre.

I used to work in the city where they're from. I am very familiar with that studio where they recorded their first demo. That engineer must still be wondering what happened. Because knowing his excellent taste in music, I'm doubtful he was impressed, either. Of course, I'm just guessing. Maybe he loves them. All I know is that I don't. I can only speak for myself.

Because maybe her real talent is acting because it sure ain't writing songs or singing.
