Hello. I am putting together a grant application for my elementary school to create a recording set up. Ideally, it would allow me to record my kids during their lessons, and also be mobile so that I can also record rehearsals of my orchestra, the chorus or band, and smaller projects like a quarter playing holiday songs to email to parents, etc. Has to be PC-based. District won't support Macs.

What I am thinking is...

Desktop/Laptop running Reaper and Mixcraft
Scarlet 18i8 interface so it's portable
Allen & Heath Zed60-14FX mixer
Rode M5 matched pair mics
AKG C214

I am open to suggestions, especially on mics, but they need to be in the same price range as there is a limit to the grant request. I have a few of my own that I could use in a pinch as well.. a pair of C1000s, a pair of MXL 603s, AKG Perception 120, Shure SM81. I have stands and cables accounted for in the grant as well.

I changed the request a bit... removed the Mixer and added a Scarlet Octopre instead to accommodate a large amount of mics if I ever need them. I always have access to mixers if I need them

Presumably your plan was to use the Octopre's ADAT output into the Scarlet. Now you have two different format pieces of gear that can't be easily placed in a single case. Why not just get an eight channel interface rather than a four channel standalone, and a separate eight channel rack piece? Then if you wanted more inputs you could still add the Octopre (or any other ADAT-equipped preamp) and stick it in the same rack. That would keep things more easily portable.
