Graphite rods in Fender necks...

Actually i think it was 94.. I was invited to a fender seminar in NY by fender reps.. They were talking about the graphite rods then.. They did have samples with them at that time.. But may not have gone into ful swing until 95..
Some folks like the graphite in the necks for stability and dead spot reduction.. but personally i like the necks with out the bars.. they sound bigger and warmer like old fender sin my opinion. alot of high end bass builders use graphite in their necks.. Im still not a fan.. IMO

I've just made minor adjustments on all my non-reinforced necked basses (4 of them)...... I have two with the rods, and neither have required adjustment this summer. Coincidence, or graphite?

I'm pretty OCD when it comes to my action, and all of my basses require some tweaking throughout the year, however, the graphite reinforced Fenders are requiring less tweaking.

I have both, and the one with graphite rods requires the most tweaking, and I recently acquired another P neck with the rods, and it had a huge forward bow at rest. So to me if the neck wood wants to move in the first place, 2 measly rods are not gonna prevent it. Also think about it: you are removing wood to put the rods....
