Great Bassists on CMAs 11-6-13

'Watched the CMAs last night, and was very impressed by a few of the bassists.
Of course the best was Edgar Meyer, who played with the supergroup behind Taylor Swift. Wow!, what a group: Meyer, Vince Gill, Allison Krauss, Sam Bush, & Eric Carkin. 'Could have used a bit more gain on Allison's mike, as she is rather quiet in her delivery...
Next best was the bassist for Jason Aldean, Tully Kennedy. Wow! For the tune they played, he pretty much soloed the entire time. Awesome.
Also Blake Shelton's bassist, Rob Byus, was also very good, very musical. He even appeared to be the band's director.
'Good to see some talented folks holding down the bottom on the show!

Don't leave out Jimmie Lee Sloas in the Kenny Rogers tribute, Glenn Worf in the George Jones tribute, and Oteil Burbridge with Zac Brown.

Coolsville, Rob! I thought you may have been the bandleader, with the non-verbal directions you were giving the band. Of course EVERY bassist is the defacto bandleader, when you get right down to it...

I saw Edgar Meyer open a Flectones show just playing solo bass, he was mindblowingly great!

He IS Awesome. Hell, he can play fiddle/mando lines (with Chris Thile or Mark O'conner) on the DB with ease (with or without the bow). Super Musician!
