Great games with terrible endings!

The ending to Assassin's Creed II was all the more disappointing because, as need4moped suggested, the setup to the ending was really excellent. Bits of "the truth", epic religious showdowns, etc.

I was running around rooftops and scouring Italian country mansions for every scrap of information I could, and when I found one I'd yell to my wife, who would promptly run in and discuss its possible relevance to the ending with me.

Then when it actually happened... yecch.

Great game, though. Tons of fun.

also the original street fighter games, where when you win it tells you to play on a harder difficulty. lame.

Arguably one of the hardest NES games ever made (which made it, for me, really fun), and the ending... rewards you with....

An instant re-start of the game, now on "hard mode". No explanation whatsoever.

IMO the hardest NES game was by far BATTLETOADS.

Yeah. If you thought the ending of the first one was bad, #2 takes bad endings to a whole new level. I think the fact that the first 99.5% of the game was incredible, really made me expect a better ending.

Yea that's my vote as well. I believe its on the wiki for it but the designers said they just ran out of time or something. There was also supposed to be a mission where you could go to the factory that was producing the HK-47's and destroy it so they'd leave you alone.

I was particularly mad about the fact they acted like that one Sith dude was hot **** and it took like 2 seconds to kill him.

Assassin's Creed 2 was terrible all around IMO.

Fable's endings have always sucked.

Didn't care for Mirror's Edge's ending, or Borderland's ending, but they're still fun.

The half life 1 ending was pretty weird. You just killed this big massive floating thing. Then you teleport to a bunch on different places.

You beat the entire game. It took you months. The planet is exploding and stuff.

You must have high expectations if the ending of Ocarina of Time can let you down (which is IMO one of the top 5 games of all times)

Also, I've enjoyed both Fable endings.

I'm sorry but the rhythm for combat was strange, they had about 8 functions for one button, and it just led to terrible control IMO. Best Ubisoft platformer was Prince of Persia.
