Great jazz basses besides fender?

I've been really looking at the G&L Tribute L2500 recently, and I'm just looking for some pointers for any others out there.
I play in a progressive metal band, and I'm really looking for that type of tone/playability for my style. Thanks!

I have an 2004 (?) Ibanez BTB600e, which I gutted and replaced the electronics as a straight-ahead Jazz. I like it better than a lot of Fender Jazz'es I've played.

I just googled that, and it is certainly flashy! The Lakland Skyline stuff is really nice for the money. Also G&L and you could probably get into USA made if you go used. I know you are looking for stuff besides Fender, but if you go used, you could probably get into an American Fender too.

Nash JB 63 is good for more traditional soundin J stuff.

Spector Forte SS is pretty nice

Warwicks are their own sound. Sorta J inspired when you look at the pickups, but less so when you play, depending on model. The Thumb is less J. The Corvette $$ in single coil mode is more traditional.

All based on what I've owned and played.

I guess you could try to save about 1500 more dollars to get a 2,500 dollar jazz bass. There are some snobs on this forum who would laugh at anything below 2000 bones. They are out there and they know who they are.

no shame in my game. i earned it. i got my tubes tied. i can't take it with me

srsly - no snobbery in my game. i'm particular about certain things and i can afford what i like. clearly, my gear got me a record deal, and all the fame and fortune i can handle. oh wait. no it didn't. back to practicing.

I can tell you that when I add up the value of my gear for purposes of my insurance, I sometimes experience these feelings all at once.
