Can attest to the comments about the G&L JB and Carvin JB4. Have one of each. Both great basses.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I really appreciate it.
And for the questions about why I don't want fenders. Well, I'm just not too fond of the p bass headstock, it's just too generic for me. I'm also recording an album next month, so something that can bring out that jazzy tone with a hint of metal can really light up my day.
I've only been seeing rockbass' so far ):Another +1 for a Warwick corvette. The German made ash and bubinga models can be had for under $1000 easily and they definitely have that jazz bass for metal vibe.
The holoflash is a crazy finish. It definitely stands out in a crowd! I found my Warwick for $700 used locally, and that seems to be the going-rate for this era of Corvettes. There may be one for sale now at that price in the classified forum.I've only been seeing rockbass' so far ):
Okay, if I find one around $1000 I'll grab it. Other than that, at the moment I have my sights set on a Spector Legend Classic 5 Holoflash
Aw whatt lucky!! And I just looked at his Warwick, and im looking for a 5 string. Was totally about to grab it right now if it was haha. The holoflash is a crazy finish. EDIT: TB'er Yaphet has a Corvette $$ for sale for under $1,000. That model has coil tapping, which allows you to run 1/2 of each humbucker, and it should give you a good approximation of a Jazz single coil.
