I have a lovely Tom Clement 6 String Single Cut, and it wasn't expensive. I think he's a member here...can't remember his username.

If you want a bass put together by a pro, you'll be paying for his/her time & workmanship. I remember taking a bunch of parts to be put together by an expert back in the day. He asked for over $300 only to put it together. I said I bought these parts my self to get it cheaper, and he said then why don't you put it together yourself? Lesson learned![]()
@Haans
I don't know about folks as low as $800 but Skelf or Alan as he's sometimes known at ACG in Scotland does impressive work.

Then there's Adrian Maruszczyk,his start around £900.

Langowski in Poland do great work too. Only their FB page I'm afraid.

Right now I think Maruszczyk takes the show for value to features to quality to variety to taking custom orders. Really really good stuff for the money.
Great suggestions, people. I'll check them out!
Wonder why some people don't read before posting, but I'll repeat myself: I'm talking about luthiers who do outstanding work for the money, not for pocket change. Sadowsky and others are great, but not at all budget friendly prices. Crackercaster looks like unbelievable stuff for the money (Crackercaster use local wood, and as far as I know it's free. That shaves a chunk off the price.).
Where would you recommend someone order a custom bass?

Luthier. Are you referring to someone that actually builds/creates their own necks and bodies or someone that buys bodies and necks (at various levels) and maybe frets and/or assembles the purchased parts?

I have a Prometeus Majesty. It's a cool instrument and has a serious growl! I did have the fingerboard radiused though. It came flat which was awful!!Pricing – Prometeus Guitars
Most bargain custom I have seen recently (since pushic left the game). Never played one though, but can't say I'm not tempted...
I am bummed Pushic closed. I have one of his custom basses and it exceeded my expectations on every level...and for approximately $1400. I had one more build for him...Pricing – Prometeus Guitars
