How the amp "runs" depends on the load that is presented to the amp's output.Also, think of what it means to bridge: you're taking two power amps running at half of the bridge load and combining them. So to bridge at 8 ohms each power amp is running at 4 ohms. To bridge into 4 ohms, each power amp is running at 2 ohms, which is a lot more demanding, and also was more difficult to engineer during the time period when the wt800 had its heyday.

Kinda-sorta, each amp does see 1/2 of the load because at the exact center point of the load the voltage equals zero (virtual ground) which is one of the defining factors of BTL calculations.Right. The individual sides of the amp do not see half the load, but in respect to current they behave as if they did. The reason is because stacking the outputs in bridge mode doubles the voltage supplied. With Z held constant, double voltage gives double current. If one side of the amp is designed for 4 ohm minimum load, bridge mode will typically require 8 ohm minimum load to prevent over current in the output devices.
Oops, my apologies. Ok, a quick "girl" bass player story.
I worked (as a FOH engineer) many times over the last 35 years with bass player Jean Millington and her sister June. Both monster players (now in their 70's) and were members on one of the first successful all female rock bands. Jean's been playing amps I designed of and on for about 1/2 that time.
Here's a short video clip that describes their story (I think this was from a promo piece for June's book "Land of a Thousand Bridges". June now runs the Institute for the Musical Arts, a program of camps and clinics designed to bring girls into the music business. This program has been running for close to 20 years and is the real deal, they have all kinds of industry pros come in and lend a hand at the camps, not just the tech side but top artists too. I have nothing but respect for what they have done.

When I was in Nashville there was a very cool camp called the "Southern Girls Rock and Roll Camp" (Invalid Link Removed). They have camps for both youth and adults. I have a friend who is involved in the administrative side of it, and I've gone to some of their "end of camp shows," which were always inspiring and fun.![]()
Exactly right, which is why my 1999 Eden WT500/800 that is rated at 400-watts per channel @ 4 ohms bridges to 8 ohms. It can't go down to 2 ohms per side, so it can't safely bridge at 4 ohms. Yes. The tape went with the circle of the driver which is what makes it look white-ish. It's the left over sticky stuff. The dark lines going across the speaker (spaces) you see is the original color of the speaker that didn't get tape on it. Wierd, I know! But hey, I'm alright with that.. Considering that it works perfectly and I wasn't even shopping for an amp at all when I put the head on layaway. So I basically got the whole rig for $420!!That lower right driver does look a little weird. Not just the going "tape" but the cone itself.
600 Watts is the amps supposed max power consumption. 500 Watts @ 8 ohms bridged is the output. Or 250 Watts per side at 4 ohms or about 175 Watts per side @ 8 ohms.Jumping in here: I got a 2001 WT-500C. It has 600 watts written on the rear tag. It was my understanding that when these were bridged it rendered 500 watts. Does anyone have any insight as to what it actually is?. I have also noticed that the amp sounds cleaner when only one channel is used. It seems to have a slightly more distorted sound when it is bridged. I only using one 8 ohm cabinet. All comments are welcomed.
