Greatest lost Bands that deserved better

He's best known for writing the song "Bad Case of Loving You" though it was Robert Palmer who had a hit with it.

Really glad I went through this whole thread.

It started out pretty awful and has kind of petered out in the last few pages (sorry, Richland, but all the buttrock you're posting sounds the same to me), but in the middle there were some REALLY great finds!

Soul Coughing and Mike Doughty as a solo artist should be more rich and famous. Book Of Drugs tells a pretty brutal story of SC, and it's no shock they folded up. Mike's solo albums and shows are fantastic. Great low end work from Scrap on recent stuff.

They were 10 years before their time. Had that debut LP been in '85 instead of '75, I think they would have been much more sucessful

Badfinger are reasonably well known, but they deserved so much more. If you aren't prepared for a truly depressing end, don't read up about this band.


An 80's band called Tyketto wrote this:

As my Dad said, they are the band that deserved to make it, but didn't.

Same goes for the Wildhearts:

That's got to be the most kicking chorus ever!

Too true. Real pop goodness. Just my own feeling, but I always thought of Big Star in a way as being America's answer to Badfinger. Somewhat similar stories, come to think of it. Tragedy, as well as poor business hit both camps.

Big Star, of course, should also be present on this thread.

Okay, so Come is just one of those bands that is just incredibly dear to my heart. There's not much else I can say, besides dropping a link or two. I couldn't imagine them being mainstream... but they DEFINITELY deserved it.
