This one is considered by some to be the very first psychedelic rock tune. Not sure why this is the case - maybe because of the heavy reverb/big echo at the end of the verses or maybe because the drummer takes up front, center stage?

All three of Jimi Hendrix's studio albums could be said to be psychedelic rock, but the opening track of the USA released album "Are You Experienced?", the song "Purple Haze" hit in March of '67 and everybody knew the cat was now out of the box. It was a tipping point and, for the unsuspecting masses at the time, an "Uh, oh!" moment. Like Buffalo Springfield sang, "There's something happenin' here......."
