Ya, I'm getting 30s (and it's damn solid too!). I can comfortably carry with one hand! Actually, the full grill I did on the Crazy 8 is lighter than the round grill!

The customer who wanted the above-pictured Bassic requested a full steel grill, but if round grill or grill cloth is requested, I would be happy to do that as well.

Some thick round steel grill I had with a heavy frame. Difference was small--on the order of grams and both were approximately 1/2 lb or so. At that point, it is just splitting hairs, but I was surprised that they would even be that close (originally thinking a full grill would be much heavier). In practice, both grills work great and it is just a matter of taste.

Personally, I don’t like the cloth grills because they rip/tear to easily (but they look good) and I don’t like the round grills because they bulge out and look like ugly bug eyes looking to be scuffed up easily during transportation. But the recessed round grills are a cool idea, but I don’t like the horn sticking out, it should be recessed too (but I don‘t horns, expressly when located between woofers - so that’s another story). Anyway, I like the full metal grills best because of the added front outer ridge, and there isn’t any bulging and they fully protect everything, plus they look great. The Bassic with the full grill is a good looking cabinet and as I said earlier if it was designed for and loaded with a Eminence Kappa 3015, under 30lbs and priced between $600 to $650 it may be a winner.

I'm still wondering what kind of finish it on the Bassic?

Thanks. So both grills were for the Crazy8? I ask because Mike's post (to which you replied) mentioned the Bassic.

I love the Kappa 3015LF in my LDS 15/6 - especially with my Fender bass. Girth is a good, descriptive way the tone feels. Wide, thick.

My crazy8 sounds great with the Fender too, and sounds even better with my fretless Rob Allen Deep 4 acoustic. Different tool for a particular sonic requirement.
