Greetings from a new member

Welcome. I can relate, I started playing bass uke at 65 about a year ago, after playing ukulele for about two years, and after playing guitar for almost fifty years. I was often told by my guitar buddies that I should take up the bass, but I didn't want to be encumbered by a big electric bass, forget a stand up. Then I discovered small bass ukes and I got hooked (I'm up to ten) and having a great time learning and playing with my 40 member ukulele group.

Yes, some things have changed, but it's surprising how so much has stayed the same, too. It shouldn't take too long to get back up to speed.

Welcome to the forum. Like you, I came back to bass after a 30 yr absence. I too was amazed at how things have changed, especially with amps. I would recommend that if possible, go to an instructor to get back on the right foot. Anything you need to know about bass, can be found here. Good luck and stay in touch.

I first started playing bass back in high school band 30 years ago and have decided to pick it up again after a lifetime away from it, so I am basically starting all over again. I look forward to the wealth of information to be found here, so much has changed.

I am also a professional archer working in the archery industry do if any of you are interested am always willing to discuss. There is an archery forum similar to this one, so I'm versed in the rules and etiquette. Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning and sharing with you all!

Welcome to one of the few basically sane forums around. If you've ever visited IMDB (the Internet Movie Data Base) you'd see how ridiculous things can get.
Not so, here...for the most part.
You should realize that we are sometimes very demanding, though.
For instance, I'm sure many of us are interested in knowing exactly what bass you decided to pick up.

I went thru a simliar experience 5 years or so ago. I quite playing bass for 20 years. It took me awhile to acclimate to all the changes that had occurred in the time I was away.
Just be prepared for your wallet to take a hit hanging around this place. They developed this thing called GAS while I was away and is infectious. I went from having 1 bass and
a practice amp that collected dust for all the time I was away to 9 basses and the practice amp and two full gigging rigs and I dont have the bad form of GAS!

Great place though, most of the posters here are very helpful and more than willing to offer up solid advice.

Best advice I can give you, STAY OUT OF THE CLASSIFIEDS PAGES! LOL!
