Hello. Long time lurker, recent "Supporting Member", and I thought it was time to introduce myself.

I played bass by ear in high school, and got into the bass the same way many do. Everyone else played guitar or drums and I played nothing, so, "Here, you play bass."

During college I sold my bass figuring I could always buy another one when I got a real job. Of course, the job came, but the bass took 20 years to get another.

That was a Peavey Millennium BXP 4-string, followed by an Ibanez AEB-5 acoustic, then I built two basses from Saga kits, and most lately, a Peavey Grind BXP 5-string and a Squier Fretless Vintage Modified Jazz Bass.

Anyway, here I am playing bass again, have been for about five years now. Self-taught, beginning with Bass For Dummies and moved on to The Complete Idiots Guide to Music Theory, Idiots Guide to Music Composition, and then Guitar For Dummies (I know, it's a redundant title), so now I play Bass, Guitar, Piano (sort of), and I'm learning the Mandolin.

Thanks to everyone here for helping me get back into playing bass, even though you didn't know you were helping.

As the title says, I'm from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

I have played gigs, nothing serious, just for friends' wedding receptions. We play a wide variety of stuff, some Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Neil Young, CCR, Alice In Chains, CSN&Y, etc. At my daughter's wedding reception we did three sets of ten songs each. My profile picture is from that wedding, btw.

I play through a 90 Watt Behringer BXL 900 and a 180 Watt Behringer BX 1800. My guitar amp is a Bugera V22 Infinium tube amp.

For pedals, I just use a Big Muff Pi and a Dunlop Bass Wah, plus the O.D. on my Behringers.

Here's what I currently have for basses. Some have gone to finance more gear, but this is my current stable.

I've owned both of those Berhinger amps. I like the 2 channel arrangement and the ability to switch. The on board OD is really pretty good. But, they are really heavy.
