Grossed out by Hefner

I've always respected Hef for saying "Screw conventions and traditional mores" and creating a quality product and an empire. I'm too young to have been around during Playboy's heyday, but it was quite a hip rag back in the day, even publishing some of Hunter S. Thompson's work that eventually became Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I know it's always a joke when you say it, but I actually do like the articles in the rag.

Is this marriage a sham? Well, none of us can really say so for sure, but let's be real. It can actually be pretty easily explained with evolutionary theory: Older male has resources, younger female is attractive (i.e., shows the signs of being able to produce healthy offspring). Let's face it; Hef has created a lifestyle and career that pretty much allows him to live like a 22 year-old for the rest of his life. Good for him.

As far as age is concerned, I actually do prefer older females. My best relationship was with a woman five years older. But I do like to think realistically, particuarly if it's someone who has marriage potential. It's going to be trying when one of your is still running marathons and the other one is sitting in the living room on oxygen. I don't think I would be with anyone who was more than 10 years apart in either direction.

I ordered a 12 month subscription simply because it was $12, plus $1.99.
The articles are much better than the purty girl pictures. Actually, so are the cartoons.

Hey, if they're happy, I'm happy for them. But some of the comments in this thread DID make me think of this old classic:

The old Rich bastage and the new young Concubine. It's been redundant in societies for centuries. Look at Henry the 8th, or any monarch....pretty much a useless ethic of useless people supported by even more useless society. Welcome to planet Earth.

Like his wife, I too am 26. For me, the amazing thing about this is to think that if I were in a similar situation, it would take another 34 years for my future wife just to be born.

Think about how much has changed in the last decade, never mind how much can and will change in three decades and some change.

I see nothing wrong with this scenario if nobody is harmed by it. That's usually a pretty good test of morality, I think.

I couldn't agree more.

you know...that about sums up my belief on everything in human interaction...they (and I) call it 'libertarian"

...but whatever you call it, if it does not hurt others and if everybody's participation in it (whatever "it" is) is voluntary, then keep your nose out of it.

now, GD it...where's my pot...

Just read that Hugh Hefner (86) married a playmate (26). This grosses me out tremendously.

Personally (since turning 36), I've lived by the motto of half my age to my own age. Looking back, though (now 47), I had no reason spending any time with an 18 year old. I mean, damn, how sick was I?

But a 26 year old when one is 86? That's just nauseating.

If you're over 18, you're legal (male/female).

I keep reading that the OP is 'grossed out by Hofner's'.

Sir Paul's Ric sound > Sir Paul's Hofner sound

I never liked the sound of the Hofner. I've had the chance to play both copies and real Hofners and hated everything about them: The sound, the feel of the neck, the way the whole instrument feels fragile.

Reminds me of this Haggard classic:

Very true, and at his age, and if she's fit enough, there's a good chance she'll f*()& him to death. Pre-nups won't matter, she'll come away with plenty of cash. In the end, they'll both get what they want, no matter how shallow the whole thing is.
