Huh. We did stuff with wood of course, but playing with band saws, routers and such, learned a lot about working with dangerous tools at a young age. We also did woodburning stuff

And, just to be clear, I am not against a 13 year old learning how to solder. But, you know, I don't think the first response they get from TB should be "learn to solder kid". Especially, if their first soldering experiment will be on a Christmas gift their mom got them.

I know how to solder, ive seen it done before. but i think i would need help locating positive and ground. but then again I've never done it before
